New Courthouse Design Process Begins
A Request for Proposals (RFP) for architectural services for the new courthouse was advertised in June 2022, and proposals were due on July 14, 2022. Two proposals were received, reviewed, and scored. The firms were ranked almost equally, and were advanced to in-person interviews with a panel of stakeholders. The interviews were conducted on August 4, 2022. The panel recommended that DLR Group be retained.
At their August 16, 2022 meeting, the Board of Commissioners approved DLR Group to be retained to provide architectural services for the new courthouse, which is part of the Justice System Improvement Program (JSIP).
The new courthouse and District Attorney’s offices will be constructed on the new Community Safety and Justice Campus to replace the downtown historic courthouse, which is no longer capable of meeting current accessibility and safety standards.
