Pretrial Services expanded and Crisis Outreach pilot programs launched

Pretrial services were expanded following recommendations of the assessment. This is intended to reduce the high rate of failures to appear in court and offer an alternative to jail. Electronic monitoring is a tool of Pre-trial Services to reduce the high rates of failure to appear in court and is planned for implementation in 2022-23.

Benton County also launched the Crisis Outreach Response and Engagement (CORE) program in partnership with the Corvallis Police Department to provide trauma-informed care to those experiencing a mental health crisis and resolve the situation without jail or the emergency room.
